Employees need to hear from you. They are looking for guidance on what is currently happening and what they can expect as things progress and inevitably change.

  • Immediately implement frequent and consistent communication to all employees.
    • Determine the right cadence and channels for your business. Some rely on daily written communication. Others have a mix of written and verbal communication. For example, some team leads for those in the field are verbally sharing the written communication to field teams who may not access email as often. Think through how each team accesses information from you and tailor your communication accordingly.
  • Create a culture of shared responsibility through your communication. Everyone is in this together and while these protocols are different and potentially challenging, they are important, and everyone is working through them together for the greater good.
  • Be transparent about the fact that guidance continues to shift and share some of the resources you are looking to for the most up-to-date information. The NC Chamber and its members recommend the CDC as the best authority.
  • Continued emphasis of personal hygiene is critical.
  • Allow people room to feel uncomfortable but engage openly to make your employees more comfortable.
