Kristy Kappel is the executive assistant to our President and CEO, Gary Salamido. In her role, Kristy supports Gary and the strategic goals of the NC Chamber. Prior to joining the NC Chamber, she gained a variety of experiences including serving as an operations manager for a financial planning firm and working in marketing, data, accounting, and account management.
Kristy earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from North Dakota State University (go Bison) and later moved to North Carolina in 1997. She enjoys the culture of the NC Chamber and how the employees support each other while working toward our common goal. It’s always been important for her to be making a difference in her work and at the NC Chamber, Kristy knows she is contributing to something good for the citizens of our state by helping to create healthy communities.
Outside of the office, Kristy spends time with her two teenage sons, Cameron (16) and Gavin (14). She enjoys teaching Cam to drive, yoga, playing piano, and playing with her dog, Agnes. She also values reading books like “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman, “Braving the Wilderness” by Brene Brown, and “Atomic Habits” by James Clear or listening to podcasts including “Unlocking Us,” “Hidden Brain,” “Dolly Parton’s America,” and “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man.”
