Thomas J. Heiks serves as executive vice president and head of commercial middle market banking, and is responsible for the growth and direction of Fifth Third Bank’s Commercial middle market business.

Tom has had more than a 25-year career with Fifth Third Bank. Before his current role, he was group regional president of the South region, which includes operations in Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee, and the regional president of the Bank’s North Carolina region, responsible for the day-to-day operations in North and South Carolina and Virginia.

His other roles at the Bank have included executive vice president of commercial banking for Fifth Third Bank (North Carolina), leading commercial banking for the Bank’s North Carolina and South Carolina markets. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of client management and was accountable for developing and directing commercial banking, corporate treasury management and professional services banking. He held similar positions in Michigan.

Tom earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo and is a graduate of the University of Virginia Graduate School of Retail Bank Management, managed in conjunction with the American Bankers Association. He is a director on the boards of the North Carolina Chamber (where he also serves as second vice chair), the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and the North Tryon Vision Plan. He previously served two years as campaign division chair for the United Way of Central Carolinas.
