Celebrating Manufacturing Day

| Manufacturing

Manufacturing has long been a major driving force behind our state’s growth and success. The industry accounts for 19.3% of NC’s total output (just under $100 billion) and employs 10.6% of the workforce. In those jobs, workers can expect their annual average compensation to be around $69,000—a competitive rate for jobs that many students might not even know exist.

In fact, that is one of the greatest challenges facing the industry. While manufacturers are ready to grow and hire, many future employees never considered working in this field or worse, they didn’t even know it was an option.

This is exactly why opening doors and minds on Manufacturing Day is so important. More than just a celebration of one of North Carolina’s most important industries, Manufacturing Day is a chance for all of us to challenge outdated stereotypes and showcase the limitless opportunities provided by careers in our field.

There are nearly 70 events across NC today, including at many of your companies, like Dell, Herbalife, Klaussner, Ingersoll Rand, TE Connectivity and more. Thanks to all of you who are participating! If you’re interested, please feel free to share them with our communications team at communications@ncchamber.com.

This Manufacturing Day, we’re not only showing off the exciting careers in the field, we’re celebrating everything that’s made right here at home in North Carolina by all of you. Thank you for everything you do!
