Behind the Business: BASF Knows the Value of Strategic Partnerships
BASF’s primary mission is to create chemistry for a sustainable future. The company relies on its six segments – chemicals, materials, industrial solutions, surface technologies, nutrition & care and agricultural solutions – to meet the needs of society using innovative solutions. While these lines of business are critical to BASF’s operations, they are not the only groups influencing the company. The contributions and value provided by BASF’s strategic partnerships are just as important.
BASF has long been committed to supporting strategic partnerships, from working with organizations that bolster workforce development to those that support diversity and inclusion in the industry. These regional, national and global partners make immeasurable contributions that not only benefit BASF but the industry as a whole and the people who support it. Some of these strategic partners include AFA (Agriculture Future of America), Cultivating Change Foundation, MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences), National FFA (Future Farmers of America) and Teach Ag.
To celebrate these invaluable partners, BASF hosted National Partnership Day earlier this year. This event featured a partner panel where leaders of each of the organizations named above discussed their missions and how they are serving the industry. For example, Cultivating Change Foundation is committed to elevating LGBT agriculturists through advocacy, education and community, and MANRRS is promoting academic and professional advancement by empowering minorities in agriculture, natural resources and related sciences. AFA and FFA are both boosting workforce development in agriculture – an industry that is struggling to find skilled talent – and Teach Ag is addressing the nationwide demand for high-quality agriculture teachers. BASF works with these partners in a multitude of ways, including providing support for the Cultivating Change Summit and hosting this year’s National Teach Ag Day at its RTP headquarters.
Of course, these are just a few of BASF’s strategic partners. In the Triangle, the company also has a long-standing partnership with NC State, which you can read more about here. BASF understands that building strong communities requires collaboration and that strategic partnerships are key to securing a better future for communities around the world.
