NC Chamber Echoes Support of Elizabeth Biser as DEQ Secretary

Today, members of the NC General Assembly’s Senate Agriculture, Energy, and Environment Committee held a confirmation hearing for the nomination of Elizabeth S. Biser as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The NC Chamber applauds Governor Roy Cooper’s selection and thanks the North Carolina Senate for moving to confirm her appointment.

This statement can be attributed to NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido:

“We applaud the naming of Elizabeth Biser to lead the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. As someone who has spent time in the private sector, Secretary Biser knows and understands business, and her previous work with the environmental agency makes her extremely well suited for this role.

During this crucial period in our state’s economic recovery, North Carolina needs a thoughtful leader who is well versed on environmental issues and the complexities of environmental legislation facing North Carolina businesses.

Secretary Biser exceeds those qualifications. We, along with job creators throughout our communities, look forward to working with her and NC DEQ to reach mutual priorities of economic success and stewardship for the state of North Carolina.”
