NC Chamber Names Cameron Dawson Director of Government Affairs
The NC Chamber has named Cameron Dawson director of government affairs. He will advocate for the NC Chamber’s legislative priorities, focusing specifically on agriculture, tax, transportation and infrastructure, AI and data privacy, and healthcare.
“Cameron brings a strong combination of policy expertise, legislative experience, and deep relationships across North Carolina,” said Jake Cashion, vice president of government affairs at the NC Chamber. “His background in agriculture, along with his understanding of North Carolina’s policy landscape and legislative process, will strengthen our advocacy efforts on behalf of the state’s business community.”
Dawson brings more than a decade of experience in North Carolina government affairs. Before joining the NC Chamber, he served as legislative affairs director for the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and as a policy advisor to the North Carolina Speaker of the House. His background includes advising senior leaders in the General Assembly, managing complex policy initiatives, and building trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the state.
A North Carolina native, Dawson earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and minors in political science and American studies.
Dawson joins Senior Director of Government Affairs Debra Derr and Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Alyssa Morrissey on the NC Chamber’s seasoned government affairs team led by Jake Cashion.
