Frank Holding, Jr. Named Chair Emeritus of NC Chamber Foundation Board
The NC Chamber Foundation Board of Directors named Frank Holding, Jr., chairman and CEO of First Citizens Bank, Chair Emeritus in recognition of his extraordinary leadership and lasting contributions to the Foundation and to North Carolina’s long-term economic competitiveness.
Recognizing the need for an organization that could look beyond the two-year political cycle and focus on the long-term competitiveness of North Carolina’s economy, Holding helped establish the NC Chamber Foundation in 2010.
Because of Holding’s vision, the NC Chamber Foundation has grown into a trusted resource for policymakers, business leaders, and stakeholders across the state—and increasingly, across the country. Its work, including long-term strategies such as Vision 2030 and NC Leads, continues to inform solutions that guide North Carolina’s future.
Holding’s leadership helped shape an organization grounded in the belief that business leaders play a critical role in advancing policies that strengthen the state’s economy and expand opportunity for its people.
“North Carolina’s success is not guaranteed,” said Meredith Archie, president of the NC Chamber Foundation. “Frank Holding understood that reality and acted on it. His foresight and leadership have helped build an organization that will continue to strengthen North Carolina’s competitiveness, support economic growth, and expand opportunity for North Carolinians.”
In recognition of his impact, the Foundation Board formally appointed Holding as Chair Emeritus, expressing its deep gratitude for his years of service, leadership, and vision.
