As you may know, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently reviewing the National Ambient Air Quality standards for both ozone and particulate matter on a compressed time schedule.

Because your business may have related air permits, you could be affected by a change in either standard. As the evaluation process continues, the EPA must have a period of public review and comment, which is why we’d like to hear from you. As the exclusive state affiliate for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the NC Chamber is compiling feedback from affected stakeholders to share with the NAM. The NAM will then submit all feedback to the EPA.

If you’d like to share your input on any changes to these two standards, please take the survey below.

  • Ozone Standards

  • The ozone standard was last revised in 2015. At that time, the EPA considered a range of concentrations from 70 - 65 parts per billion (ppb). After much debate and review, both the primary and secondary ozone standards were set at 70 ppb.
  • Particulate Matter Standards

  • The particulate matter annual standard is currently set at 12 micrograms per cubic meter (µ/cm3)
