Chamber Foundation Releases Report on NC’s Workforce System
As you know, there is an increased need for effective coordination and delivery of employment training services. Additionally, there needs to be a more productive way to match the needs of North Carolina employers with individuals that are looking for a job.
Recognizing that North Carolina’s job creators are significant stakeholders in this process, the NC Chamber Foundation commissioned Doug Holmes, president of UWC, which provides strategic services on unemployment & workers’ compensation, to conduct a study around this. The report evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the current system, federal and state performance measures, and best practices that may be employed to improve the workforce system.
Today, Holmes presented the findings of the report to the Joint Legislative Workforce Development System Reform Oversight Committee. The report’s strategic observations and recommendations for a more effective workforce development system in North Carolina will be critical in the continued effort to strengthen North Carolina’s talent pipeline.
Workforce development is a critical component to the Education and Talent supply pillar outlined inNorth Carolina Vision 2030, the organized business community’s long-term vision to drive economic prosperity for all North Carolinians. Developing a world-class talent pipeline in North Carolina is critical to our state’s ability to develop, train and retain a globally competitive workforce. Read the full report here.
