Webinar Recap & Recording: “Reopening Best Practices for Businesses”
On May 14, the NC Chamber facilitated a critical conversation on best practices for businesses to consider when planning for their employees to return to the workplace. Veronica Bryant, Environmental Health (EH) Preparedness and Outbreak Coordinator for the NC Division of Public Health, provided her expert guidance and reopening principles for employers to follow.
Michael McKnight, employment law expert and shareholder at Ogletree Deakins, presented liability traps to avoid as businesses relaunch in the current environment. He discussed details on how to evaluate your workplace and make feasible changes. Michael explained liability issues surrounding inadequate PPE and screening mechanisms, ignoring employee complaints, forgetting about new leave laws (Families First Coronavirus Response Act), failing to consider ADA obligations, and other key concerns.
Ensuring the health and safety of employees and customers is top priority for our business community. The NC Chamber thanks Michael and Veronica for their valuable insight on workplace health and safety, leave laws, retaliation concerns, and best practices to minimize risk in these areas.
