NC Chamber Launches International Commerce Division
RALEIGH, N.C. — The NC Chamber has launched an International Commerce Division to help build the relationships, mechanisms, and deal flow that convert international economic interest into real investment, new partnerships, and expanded opportunities for North Carolina.
“As we began to formalize relationships with international chambers of commerce, starting with Northern Ireland in 2024, it became quickly apparent that there was a need for direct, business-to-business engagement,” said Gary Salamido, president and CEO of the NC Chamber. “This work strengthens North Carolina’s competitiveness by connecting international companies with our state’s robust economic, supply-chain, talent, and investment opportunities, all while supporting North Carolina companies seeking foreign market entry.”
To date, the International Commerce Division has inked deals with the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ProColombia, the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE), and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.
Jake Cashion, vice president of government affairs at the NC Chamber, is leading the effort for the organization. He is joined by Lorena Patterson, president of the North Carolina Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, who serves as senior director of global strategy for the division.
“The NC Chamber has seen a significant uptick in international interest over the last couple years and as we deepened our relationship with North Carolina’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, we quickly found synergies with Lorena and her team,” said Cashion. “We are excited to bring a business-centered approach to North Carolina’s global engagement. Our focus is not just attraction—but building long-term international relationships that convert into investment, supply-chain diversification, and innovative partnerships.”
