NC Chamber Praises NCGA, Governor for Florence Response

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC Chamber today praised the North Carolina General Assembly’s passage of bipartisan Hurricane Florence relief legislation and thanked Governor Cooper and the statewide business community for their leadership and recovery efforts.

“Hurricane Florence’s impact on North Carolina was devastating, but the quick response from our state’s leaders, businesses and communities has been extraordinary,” said Lew Ebert, President and CEO of the NC Chamber. “The General Assembly’s swift action today to pass a bipartisan relief package is a major step forward on the road to recovery. I’m grateful to Senate and House leadership not only because they came together so quickly to pass this legislation, but also for their prudent financial management of our state’s rainy day fund, which is now allowing us to address our state’s most immediate needs.

“Thanks are also in order for Governor Cooper, whose leadership around this storm helped both preparation and relief efforts. North Carolina businesses have also stepped up in a big way after Hurricane Florence and I’m impressed by the charitable efforts of our statewide business community. While there’s still much to do, these past few weeks have shown that when North Carolinians work together, nothing can stand in our way.”
