The following message was sent to members of the N.C. House this morning. 

The NC Chamber supports House Bill 332: Streamline Comm./Multifam. Bldg. Plan Review (along with its companion bill S275) and encourages you to vote to pass this bill.

The NC Chamber strongly supports this bill as it would streamline the approval process for major commercial and multifamily projects, which will allow projects to be completed sooner and eliminate costly delays. Under the current process, some regions are taking as long as six months to review plans after they are submitted.

Specifically, the bill creates a 21-day time limit for local governments to review sealed plans for commercial and multifamily building projects. Should the local government be unable to complete the review in 21 days, a builder can contact the NC Department of Insurance and have a third party engineer review the plans.
