First in Defense Coalition

Positioning North Carolina for the Next Frontier of Defense Innovation

North Carolina has the assets to lead in defense technology and advanced manufacturing, but the state is not yet capturing its full share of the opportunity. At a time when the United States is investing heavily in military modernization, reshoring supply chains, and strengthening the defense industrial base, states that move with speed and alignment will win.

Launched by the NC Chamber and NC Critical Technologies Alliance, the First in Defense Coalition brings together business, research, and education leaders to strengthen North Carolina’s defense economy, attract investment, and position the state for long-term growth.
