In his role as senior director of government affairs, Mark Coggins advocates for policies and solutions that propel North Carolina’s private sector job growth while maintaining the state’s nationally competitive business climate. He focuses on tax, legal, transportation, and health care issues for the Chamber.

Mark attended Campbell University for his undergraduate degree and received his Master of Public Administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the NC Chamber, Mark worked in the North Carolina House of Representatives for more than seven years, where he developed an understanding of many policy areas and the legislative process.

While the NC Chamber may be modest in size, it holds a significant and positive influence within our state. Mark truly enjoys being part of this organization, which is filled with passionate, caring, and supportive individuals. The NC Chamber fosters a collaborative and encouraging environment, allowing its members to contribute meaningfully to the community. Mark is proud to work alongside such dedicated people who are committed to making a real difference.

With deep roots in North Carolina, Mark appreciates our state’s beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, and of course, barbecue, all of which he enjoys with his wife, Brittany, kids, and beloved dog, Daisy. He has also been known to be found in the kitchen cooking and baking goodies for his family, out for a run, or planning his next trip to Walt Disney World. When thinking about progress in work or in life, Mark believes, “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.”
